AI Start-up Prepares for Growth with Advice from Computas
Altek AI is a promising startup behind chatbot solutions used at some of Norway’s most exclusive hotels and resorts, such as The Thief and Britannia. With ambitious growth plans, they needed a secure and scalable AI infrastructure. For this, they sought the help of Computas.
As Altek AI continued to acquire more customers and planned for further expansion, they realized they needed enhanced security, GDPR compliance, and a robust Google Cloud setup tailored to the company’s ambitious growth plans. Computas provided expertise and delivered a three-part report that included a thorough security analysis, GDPR recommendations, and advice on structuring their Google Cloud environment.

A Safer User-experience
Altek AI’s solutions, including the chatbot that assists hotel guests, aim for exceptional user-friendliness. Beyond answering guest inquiries, they seek to enable bookings, such as for the hotel’s spa or restaurant. Behind this simplicity lies advanced API integrations and access to complex systems, which pose significant security challenges. Computas conducted a detailed security analysis to identify potential vulnerabilities and recommended specific mitigation measures.
Additionally, Altek AI’s AI-models process a substantial amount of personal data, necessitating full compliance with GDPR regulations. Computas analyzed the company’s data handling practices and recommended the integration of privacy policies to inform users about how their data is processed. Anonymization was implemented wherever feasible. These measures ensure GDPR compliance and bolster user trust in the solution.
‘Implementing a more robust and secure solution has been crucial for us as we experience rapid growth,’ says Jon-Fredrik Hopland, who, along with Kristoffer S. Pedersen, co-runs the company from opposite ends of the country after studying together at the University of Tromsø.

Robust Setup of Google Cloud
Altek AI has also benefited from Computas’ expertise in Google Cloud. They needed to migrate their infrastructure to the organizational level to achieve better scalability and enhanced security. A new structure and access control were implemented, and Computas produced documentation on the key changes to ensure a secure and reliable cloud solution.
The founders are pleased with the collaboration with Computas, which they believe has provided the security they need as they enter an ambitious growth phase, having already secured several new clients in the hotel and entertainment industries.
‘Computas has truly delivered value with this three-part review. We now have a structure that both strengthens security and GDPR compliance, allowing us to focus on what we do best – developing AI tools that simplify our customers’ lives,’ says Hopland.
Computas believes that more companies could benefit from a similar review of their solutions. ‘Our collaboration with Altek AI is a great example of how a holistic approach to security provides a technological foundation that creates value and reduces risk for both the provider and users of the solution without compromising the user experience. We look forward to seeing what new opportunities they can exploit with a secured and scalable solution,’ says Simon Isaksen, Account Manager at Computas.
