Biometric data determines identity at UDI

Computas has developed a solution for the UDI that establishes identity based on biometric data. Biometric data can include facial images, fingerprints, or signatures. By registering and searching biometric data, a person’s true identity can be verified with a higher degree of certainty.

“For us, this has been an important project because it goes to the heart of what we do at UDI. It is about ensuring and improving the control and identity of those who come to Norway and those who reside in Norway,” says Project Manager at UDI, Eli Mosand.

“The challenges that needed to be solved in this project were quite complex, and it is therefore extra fun to succeed. It is also meaningful to contribute to Norwegian public agencies getting more modern IT solutions, and I believe that the opportunity to be part of creating something new and useful triggers the joy of creation for all developers,” she says.

“There are always many factors to consider when choosing a supplier. We have collaborated with Computas for many years and find that they have a good understanding of our societal mission, and in this project, they have been a very important sparring partner,” says Mosand.

Chief Engineer at Computas, Ingeborg Øderud, says that working on the project has been both professionally challenging and meaningful in the sense that many people will be working with the solution.
