Leading in the Nordic region as an Atlassian Cloud Migration Specialist

Atlassian will be shutting down its on-premise server platform in February 2024, which has caused a rush of businesses looking to move their Atlassian solutions to the cloud. Atlassian provider Computas is therefore preparing for a busy year. Earlier this month, the Norwegian IT company achieved status as an Atlassian Cloud Migration Specialist, one of only two providers in the Nordics.

Atlassian offers a portfolio of collaboration, process, project management, and work management solutions with Jira and Confluence being the most widely used. They have previously offered a choice of three platforms to deliver these solutions to users: Cloud, on-premise Server, or on-premise Datacenter. The latter is intended for large enterprises, while on-prem Server is the platform that has been most commonly used until now. However, from February 2024, this platform will be discontinued. Therefore, there is a massive migration of customers from on-premise Server to Atlassian’s cloud platform.

End-of-life for Atlassian Server

Atlassian has already closed the option to increase or decrease the number of users for the platform that is now being shut down. From next February, there will be no more updates or support given for the platform. Therefore, it is urgent for businesses on Atlassian’s on-prem Server platform to create a good plan for a safe and successful migration to Atlassian’s cloud platform, says Rune Hagbartsen, Area Director at Computas for sales and expertise in the Atlassian portfolio.

He further explains that Computas is experiencing a high demand from customers needing help in this process.

“We are beginning to feel that it will be a busy year for our Atlassian consultants, as according to our contacts at Atlassian, the Nordic region currently has the lowest percentage of users on the cloud platform. We will help everyone who reaches out, but it would be a shame if they miss out on Atlassian’s incentives by not migrating in time.”

Specialization in cloud migration

As part of the preparations, Computas has achieved status as an Atlassian Cloud Specialist. The specialization is based on certification of consultants and documented, successful cloud migrations for several large customers.

“The specialization is an important confirmation of the solid experience and expertise offered by our Atlassian experts. Through the specialization, they also have in-depth knowledge of a range of incentives that customers can trigger by migrating, and they will be able to help customers avoid pitfalls such as double licensing,” he explains.

Security, data processing and GDPR, legal and technical issues are important aspects of a successful migration, and by using a certified provider, necessary evaluations are made and everything is documented along the way. Hagbartsen also adds that a successful cloud journey involves taking a broader perspective than just the technical track.

“The migration is a momentum for evaluating work methods and processes. Is there room for improvement? Can something be automated? The answer is usually yes. Therefore, we also offer a wide range of advisory services to ensure a successful change journey and good use of technology for all levels of users,” concludes Hagbartsen.
